The 1966 Mosrite The Ventures Bass, made in Bakersfield, California, is a rare and iconic piece of 1960s surf and rock history. Featuring a vibrant 3-color sunburst lacquer finish on its alder body, this bass boasts a maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard.
The early version is equipped with a Mosrite logo pickup, a sunburst-finished neck, and a black headstock with the white Ventures and "Mosrite of California" logos. It also features the unique "M-Button" bass tuners, which were introduced during this period.
With a short 30" scale, slim neck, and low action, the Ventures Bass is renowned for its playability, especially with flatwound strings. The bass produces a solid fundamental tone, perfect for surf, punk, and heavier genres like Iron Butterfly and The Stooges. This example is in very good condition, showing only a couple dings All hardware is original, and the bass includes its original brown tolex hard shell case.
This Mosrite Ventures Bass is a collectible, vintage instrument, perfect for players and collectors alike, with all original components and a unique, funky sound that defines 1960s California cool.
